    Elite K7S5A Motherboard

Anyone here know anything about this motherboard, I can buy the above with an Athlon 1Gbt prosessor + Heatsink/fan + 300Wat PSU for £195. Is that a good buy. I can't seem to find it named anywhere at moment. Thanks in advance.

I too looked at this board but it had some features that I was not interested in...onboard lan being one of them and also the limitation of 1ghz of ram. I chose the K7vza rev 3 same manufacturer and after 3 days I am very happy so far.

Thanks for your reply. What is onboard lan??
and I dont think i will ever need more than 512Mb ram. Where can I read about these boards on the net,as I can't find em anywhere at moment. Can find all newer boards but not the K7S5A I think I might have to go back to the shop and ask him about the speck of this board or whether he reckomends something else. Thanks again, yours DENNIS

Well, Thank You All for your Kind help in this. Sounds like a good mobo to me,but if you know of a better one at same price!!
Would like to know what AC97 Audio sound is like, is it as good as the Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V, or would i be better off disableing that sound and buying seperate sound card. Plus that Lan connector/Network Interface, would that be an Ethernet Card or have i got me wires crossed.
Also noticed that as well as haveing these--Mic-in, Line-in, Line-out it has a CD-in,what is a CD-in. Also mine PCI/ISA/AGP, this board--PCI/ISA/AGP/AMR what is AMR Rather confuseing to me I'm afraid is all this. Sorry if I sound thick,(I am on this kind of thing)Thanks All. yours, Dennis

PS.Sarrkazztic, your system nearly same as mine m8 except you going to use the ECS K7VZA. Good Luck let me know how yours is going. Take Care.yours, Dennis

Dennis, Mine is running sweet...My wife bought me the antec sx-830 case with 4 case fans and system runs great and never gets above 37 degrees celcius. I use windows 2000 pro for my O.S. but win98se is good too its a matter of preference really. The only tip I have for you is do not use the stock heatsink and fan that comes with your cpu and mobo...get a better one...the one I bought is the vantec cck-6035d it is awesome...only downside is the delta 38cfm fan is a little on the loud side but it has a sweet whine that kinda sounds like a high performance super charger on a classic car.

Thanks Sarrkazztic for all your help and replys, i'ts appreciated this way. I will let you know by end of week if I have upgraded, and if so, if its working OK.Trying to save some money this way and was hopeing I could get away with just a new Prosessor, but can only go as high as 450Mhz on my 440BX board. (Bummer that). Still £200 is better than a new comp and this will be more or less new by time I,ve finished anyway. Catch you soon. yours,Dennis.
