Delta Crew - Calling All Hands
Summer break is almost over and we have two things to think about.
1. It is time to build another Delta Computer (finally got the funds together). Want to do it in this forum again or not?
2. Shall we continue with the Weekly Subject Threads. If so we need to go back over Chipsets and Controllers. We need to finish this project up. Hate loose ends.
IMHO, I believe these two things help people. Notice the growth in the Hardware Forum since last October.
What say you gurus of cyberspace? I'll draft Bistro as he is on another sabbatical this week.
You know who you are or do I have to call a roll. I am calling on some others I have met this summer to join in also.
And for any of you that are unfamiliar with this bunch of computer heads, we like to have a little fun as we work. We like to answer your questions also. Do not be shy as everyone has to start somewhere.

Whatever you guys decide upon...I'll be watching. Ol' Lazarus is running just fine (except for that freaky LED) with it's fresh install of windows98. However it occurs to me that when the thing was finally finished, the only Emachine parts involved are RAM, keyboard, and CD-RW. So instead of rebuilding the Emachine, I ended up building a new machine...LOL
But I am eye-balling that empty Emachine, with all it's parts laying around, and wondering if a third computer is in my future. Train's link about a heavily modded Emachine has me interested. Hmmmmm.....
I'll be watching and learning and all the while wondering if the Emachine is really dead or just sleeping.
And for those of you that thought I would have wrecked this windowsME HP by now...sorry to dissappoint...it's working fine too. Actually not minding using windowsME anymore, but don't tell anyone.

I am here as often as I can be (or what my wife will allow) and I definately believe that we need to continue with the weekly threads. Currently I am suffering from W.T.W., a.k.a. Weekly Thread Withdrawl

Thanks for the replies that have come in so far.
One of the questions that needs to be answered is how deep we should go into a subject once we start it.
My opinion is that we should not restrict our threads in any way technically. Some members will contribute brief comments and others will go into great depth. If a reader does not understand a post he can do two things. Ask a question and/or save the info to study later. In this way those that want to really learn will be able to and will not be cut off from obtaining increasingly higher levels of knowledge.
Please keep the replies and comments coming which will help us to help you.

Hi,
yes, ask questions
if you have a question about what the question could possible be about, ask question.
if you don't know the question to the answer, ask Arthur.
maybe he'll thank you for all the fish?
Hmmm, won't make a Dent here...
anyway, many questions stay open-ended.
they lead to more questions.
ask them.
if you know the answer to some, post them, it will lead to more answers and questions as to what the question to the answer was.
maybe ask the dolphins about the fish...
won't make Dent happy, maybe it will, but there should always be a question left?
and many answers stay open-ended as well...
tell Ford about it, I believe he told Arthur about the fish..

it's only FREE advice!

I hope you start the thread soon Goose. All the parts for my new puter should arrive by Friday and I am probably going to start building over weekend.

Hi All,
Jaak, Nice to see you on board again.
Caeser, Nice to see you here also. I will order my components this weekend and plan on starting to build the first week in September or when the components get here on the Hardware Forum. The Queen of Hearts built the first one and it came up without a glitch.
Maxxmilian, sarrkazztic, T-bolt, and Ridgerunr welcome. Should we get enough participation and contributing posts, I would think we could handle both an Operation Delta and the Weekly Subject threads at the same time.
For those of you that are not familiar with what we are doing, Operation Delta (Dedicated to Excellence and Long Term Acheivement)is the actual contruction of one or more computers on the Virtual Dr Hardware Forum at the same time while the Weekly Subject Thread covers a different subject each week - which is sometimes longer or shorter than a week.
DrMDJ and Kallikru where are yooouuuuuu?? I know you're lurking and there's another mission if you choose to accept it etc. etc.
Be back in a bit.

Let's have a thread devoted entirely to Emachines and how they have contributed greatly to world peace and prosperity.
Gotta go........

Is it just me or does Maxx seem to have a touch of schizophrenia.....either that or there is an Emachine out there thinking about taking over the world.....Hey is there a firewall that will prevent that.

Hey Sarrkazztic, I'm not aware of any firewall, but I believe your AV program will pick it up.
Sorry E.. Just saw an opening and took a Jab. Nothin' personal.
