Modifying Case-Do I need to upgrade Power Supply
Currently I have an Athlon slot A 750 mhz cpu on a power color pvk7 mobo with 384 mb pc 100 sdram. 32 mb savage 4 vid card cdburner dvd drive 20 gb maxtor and 8.4 gb maxtor hard drives floppy 100 base network with linksys befsr41 router and cable modem...I have a 250 watt power supply all is well...everything runs great I am using win2k for OS. On boot up I go to cmos and check the hardware temps...31C/87F on sensor 1 and 42C/107F on sensor 2. I have a dual cpu fan for my athlon and a 80mm intake fan at the bottom front of case...also the powersupply fan at the top of case....I want to do a case mod....I have a slightly larger tower that I plan to use and I am going to put a window in the side panel and a clear top. The main attraction is going to be a 15 inch black light. I also plan to add 2 more fans...a blow hole in the top with probably a 120 mm exhaust and a 120 mm intake in the side panel at cpu level. Will I have to move up to the 300 watt power supply....If I stay with the 250 what will happen?

Yes you will have to get a power supply with a higher wattage. A 300watt power supply would be okay but if you can get a 400watt power supply that is even better.
If you were to stay with your 250watt power supply you would notice problems with you hard drives, you cd burner would under-run and the fans wouldn't work properly.
With your hard drives generally they would give you errors like cannot write data to drive X, Data may be lost. And they might also make a grinding sound from time to time.
(I found that out the hard way)

hmmm...sarrkazztic, do you live in the dorms?
I'm just wondering why you would want to add so much more heat like a black light to your system when it adds no system performace...
sure it looks cool...but I advise agains this...
of cource I could be wrong...a friend of mine asked my opinion on his case mod...he added water to the side panel so it looks like a fish tank inside...naturally I said no, but last I heard it was still running fine...

Zam,
From what I am reading a 12v dc black light would not add that much extra heat...and the power consumption would only be about 3 watts. I just want to do something different. maybe its a midlife crisis or something.

Also I have room to add a 2nd power supply if I choose and I could use it just to run peripherals. just an option...only difficult part would be getting it to sync with the on off switch..but I am contemplating a switch bus panel on the front anyway for the fans and the light...I could add another switch for the secondary power supply
