    Explorer Bar folders

Forgive me if this is easy to you all, but this is perplexing me. When I open Windows Explorer, the Folders pane on the left is greyed out and obviously am unable to see the file tree. The "close" button is visible. However, if I go to View and change Explorer bar to any of the other options, the option chosen appears.

    Anybody any ideas?

    Hi putasolutions:
When you have windows explorer open...and you go up to tools.......then folder options....then look under the view tab......
If you scroll to the bottom....do you have a check mark in "remember each folder's view settings"?

There's a fix you might try, if everything else fails:

    Copy the bold to Notepad:

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EFA24E64-B078-11d0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}]
    @="Explorer Band"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EFA24E64-B078-11d0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}\InProcServer32]
    @="C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM\\SHDOCVW.DLL"
    "ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EFA24E64-B078-11d0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}\Implemented Categories]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{EFA24E64-B078-11d0-89E4-00C04FC9E26E}\Implemented Categories\{00021493-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]

Save as Explorer.reg, doubleclick, and answer 'yes' to have it merged into your registry.

    Reboot.

    Good luck, Tony

Thanks Daizy and to Kleinkramer, I managed to sort the problem. I did a re-install of IE6 as I was having couple of problems, and that seems to have done the trick. BTW, Kleinkramer, the first line of the registry edit you suggested, was the one in error though,

Thank you both for your time.

    You're welcome.

Glad you were able to sort it out.

    Cheers, Tony
