Whats the deal with those little IE icons?
I was trying to find out what those little icons in my favorites menu in IE 5.5 were when I discovered some strange things.
I learned that they are called 'favicons' and are supposedly stored in the internet cache. So, as a test, I deleted all my internet files and rebooted. When I came back, the icons were still there.
I looked in the temporary internet files and found that all of the files were gone EXCEPT cookies and the favicon for the most recent bookmark I made.
So, where are the icon files REALLY being stored?
And why are some immune from being deleted?

Hi;
Did you try to delete them from the C/Windows/Cookies folder? Select Edit/SelectAll/ and select Delete on your keyboard. You can also delete all hidden temporary internet files and cookies in DOS by typing this at the prompt->
C:\>deltree /y windows\tempor~1
This may take some time the first time around.When the C:\> comes back up type->
C:\>detree/y windows\cookies
This will also delete your index.dat which can become quite large over time.This can only be deleted in the DOS environment.It will be re-built on a reboot.Hope this is of some help.
