Can't get to startup menu
Using Ctrl or F8 keys won"t prevent Windows from starting. I can't get to Dos menu. My diskette drive doesn't work and I have to format my HDD. Besides my config.sys file is empty. Is it normal, doctor? Help!!
Thank you

In order to format and start over in Windows ME, you will need to get the floppy drive working and boot with a bootdisk.
The config.sys file is no longer processed by winME. See this article for more information:
Overview of Real Mode Removal from Windows Millennium Edition
You also do not have the option of dropping into DOS on the boot menu. There is a crack on the net that you can install if you are still able to get up to "unhide" DOS. It is located here:
Real DOS-Mode Patch for Windows Millennium
Be very careful with it... read all of the read me's. Some people have had good luck with it, and some people haven't.
The advice given to you about your floppy disk by Philgo on your other question was solid advice. Generally, when the floppy light is always on, there is a problem with the power source. Open up the box. Turn the power cable 180 degrees and try it that way. If the light is still "always on", try a different power cable. There may be something wrong with that one.
