Playing games and DVD
I've a customer with a PIII machine, ME, and a nvidia graphics card.
The problem is that when customer attempts to play Age of Empire2 or Midtown Madness2 the system hangs.
The games install and load ok, but when you attempt to play the computer either freezes or throws up a blue screen.
Have tried everything I can think of...have even tried reinstalling windows. I've been able to get the games playing after disabling directdraw (directX). This directly effects DVD's...and obviously is not a good resolution.
I've tried MS kb articles but can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, both of those games are made my Microsoft. I had similar trouble with running Motocross Madness 2. I also have a P3 and an nVidia graphics card. I have had this game working in the past, but I have since rebuilt my system. Now it doesn't work. I wish I could tell you why...

Thanks for the handy links Triple7.
I've seemed to clear the problem with the games by reducing the graphics arpeture in the BIOS. I'm still having problems with the DVD though but I've discovered that there's a known bug under ME with regards a conflict between directx applications and any version of Geforce2.
The workaround is to download an older/newer version of the driver that you are currently using.
I've directed the customer to the link for updating his driver so I don't know if it has been resolved yet.
