    WinXP&Win98 networking

Does anyone have a link or can explain how to network 2 computers using a Linksys router? I'm looking for information on how to configure the systems on both computers. Thanks in advance.

what router are u using,ie model #. There should be some instruction with the router as to the cable orientation.Start with installing your network cards and protocols.
    go here http://www.dalantech.com/netmenu.shtml

this will get the basic network started for u then follow instruction with router if u intend to share your broadband.

this link will give u a pretty good guide to setting up your router

    ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/befsr11_befsr41ug.pdf

any other questions just keep askin someone will come along and help u sort it out

out of the box....plug your cable modem or dsl into the wan port of the router....plug machines 1 and 2 into the other ports...not the uplink port of course but if it is a 4 port router...any port from 1-4....8 port then 1-8.....when you install the drivers for the network cards in each machine tcp/ip will be setup automatically and the default is to obtain an ip address automatically.....make sure you setup the workgroup name to be exactly the same on both machines.....and you should now be able to share the internet connection.....if you want to share drives and printers go to network properties in control panel and check the box that says enable file and printer sharing...this will call for a reboot.....when rebooted go to each drive you want to share and right click choose sharing and then set the permissions on each share accordingly.....I always choose full shared with no password because I am the only one in my house that uses the network really...other than the cable connection....but you might want to add password protection to keep people out of certain portions of your drives......then for printer sharing...on the client machine....that does not have the printer choose add printer...network printer and browse through your network til you find the printer......if the printer is not supported by your os natively you might have to install the driver software on that client machine run the print test and all should be well......
