apps for broadband connection
hey all, i've got one thing to say...@#$& netzero!
i've had it with their annoying log-on ads and ad bar so i'm going with a cable modem.
what applications will be useful once i have a permanent connection to the internet (firewall, etc.), and where can i find them?
i'm running win98SE on 600Mhz, 128MB
thanks!
Is this thing on?

You should get a firewall up as soon as possible. Zone Alarm has a free version available that works well and had good reviews.
If you are planning to add a small network of PCs, a lot of the Cable/DSL routers have firewall capabilities.
ServU is an FTP server that will allow you to upload/download files to and from your machine from anywhere.
