Connecting 2 PCs using their modems

I have two PCs running Windows95. Both have an internal modem. Is there anyway to connect the two using the modems so as to have an IPX network running?

    Thanks

a long time ago, using c64s we connected them with a phone wire and two modems, but nowadays for speed... dude spend 40 bucks and get yourself two ethernet cards with the coax bnc connectors and wire them up, terminate either end and its all over and you dont need a hub.

But I don't need the speed and I don't want to spend the $40 especially if you're talking US $. Yeah so I'm cheap but I'd like to know how to do this. Somebody suggested buying second hand cards for 5 bucks a piece but now I'm more interested in the problem than connecting the PCs.

Try using PC Anywhere. This will allow you to dial into one computer and view files like on a network. Although you probably need two phone lines. So either way the best bet is to buy the nic cards and run some twinax.

Are the PC's next to each other or miles away, you don't say. If miles away, simply make sure you two are on the same sheet of music and have one dial the other? Or am I missing something here??? I used to do that in the 80's. Never tried it when they are next to each other?

The PCs are about 10m apart. I don't want to use a phone line to do this though. As I understand it if the modem picks up and there's no dial tone it's going to hang up again. Presumably you used a phone line to connect them then?
