Which protocol to use?
I set my two Pcs using TCP/IP and sharing in Win98 SE but I'm being told that I should use NetBui also cause it's a faster protocol should I add it?

Not necessarily because it is faster, but Windows expects it to be there. Things like the computer browser have problems usually without it installed.

Netbeui is designed for small networks, it's extremely easy and nothing to really configure. TCPIP is designed primarily for large networks such as the internet.

OICU812, WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA OR INFORMATION THAT NETBUI IS "EXPECTED TO BE THERE"? I AM JUST CURIOUS, NOT CRITICIZING. AS BARBIE HAS SAID, " YOU SHOULD BE USING NETBUI SIMPLY BECAUSE IT WILL SAVE YOU HEADACHES, BUT YOU CAN USE TCPIP BUT WHO THE HELL WANTS TO SET UP IP ADDRESS AND LOCAL, GLOBAL PARAMETERS? IF YOU USE TCPIP, USE 199.166.XXX.XXX. AND INCREMENT FROM ONE AND UP.

I have a WIN98SE network and I do not have Netbui installed. In fact, when I tried to install it, I got an error code that said it shouldn't be used in ICS (internet connection sharing)
