Thanks, JoJo Gunn...
Interesting...
not really sure what's needed though, except that, as you said, mpegs should be playable in Irfanview.
By the way, sorry to have forgotten to mention that I do have all Irfanview plug-ins installed.

Irfan suggests I reinstall windows media player...
I've got 6.4 and don't want to upgrade...
as I see, from the msn site, 6.4 is only offered for W95 and NT...
Is that one good for W98 as well (and prolly the same one I've got)?.
TIA...

My Win98 WMP = version 6.4.07.1119 (shipped with W98SE).
Don't like V7+.
So reinstall from your Windoz CD.
Still be a few days before I can work on my other system (got youngest daughters 1st Birthday tomorrow!)

I reinstalled MP2 6.4 and seams it have fixed the problem! Seams I may have gotten kinda out of hand trying to downsize used space on the hd when I originally tried uninstalling QT, RP AND MP2 (forgot about that one). I hope to not need QT and RP, but will keep MP2, Irfanview and MMJukebox (which also plays video)
NOW, I hope it stays working as I try to rid of QT and RP again!
I know the hd and registry are full of stuff from these programs...
any suggestions as to ensure ridding of all/most if it?
Thanks very much, johnpaul, smurfy, JoJo Gunn, DennisR, marv6 and Cherokee!
