    Norton System Works 2002 Updates

have had no problems with my Norton 2002, until this week.
The live update has told me of some updates, and none of them install correctly. They all fail the installation portion. The only one that works is the AV definition update. The failures are the Symantec Redirector, Speed Disk, and Norton Utilities 2002.

I never had problems with updates before. Anyone else have update install issues?

UPDATE: The Symantec Redirector installation worked, but upon reboot I now have an error

The procedure entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library SymRedir.dll.

The top bar says navapw32.exe - Entry Poing Not Found

Maybe I should move this to Software forum?

This is taken from a recent Symantec News Bulletin:

    1. Error: "The procedure entry point
    ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could
    not be located..."

After running the latest LiveUpdate for Norton Internet Security 2002, Norton Personal Firewall 2002, Norton AntiVirus 2002, or Norton SystemWorks 2002, you see the following error message: "The procedure
entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located..."
This is a known issue that Symantec is investigating.

Currently, we do not know the cause. If you are seeing this error and would like to help us resolve it, please go to the following document and click the survey link. Then fill out and submit the survey. The

    2. What is the Symantec Redirector (Symredir)?

The Symantec Redirector (Symredir) is a set of shared network drivers that allow Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, and Norton Internet Security to filter incoming and outgoing data for malicious
or undesired content. The Redirector intercepts data coming into, or leaving your computer, and redirects it to a temporary location on your hard drive. Then processes the data and sends the data to its
    intended destination.

Could you respond a bit quicker next time .

I guess that is why my NAV email scanning is not working anymore.

Now to find out why the other updates won't install.

    mrman,

I don't know if this will help, but in the past I have had failed updates to Norton Personal Firewall, but I found that subsequent attempts to update succeed if I disable the program. I assumed that there were certain files that could not be updated while they were in use, athough this is just speculation on my part. I would suggest that you shut down or disable all running features of the Norton products on your machine except NAV autoprotect and then try to run liveupdate from your NAV console again. I don't know if this will help, but it might be worth a try.

P.S. If by any chance you have disabled regwizc.dll in the past to prevent web sites from reading or writing to your registry, I have found from experience that this will prevent symantec from writing to your registry as needed during certain program updates.
