Need help how to make short .wav files out of cds.

    Hi everybody,
I need to find out how can I get short wav files out of cds.
When I extract a music from cd's to burn a cd, it is extracted as a whole music or the burner dont except it. If I want to burn just a piece of that music from the cd, supposing: get just 25 seconds from the middle part of the cd with 4 minutes, so I can loop it. how can I do it? do I need a software for it? Any in mind?
    I really appreciate any help.

there are different ways to do this....first off though...you will need to extract (AKA rip) the song from the CD...
you can find freeware apps that do this at download.com
    I use dBPowerAmp
rip it to a wave format...
after that...you will need to edit the wave file
I personally use Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge...but that is pricey...I'm sure you can find other wav editors at download.com, zdnet.com, or just run a search on google.com

to sound forge (I think they still have a 30 day trial) I open the wave file, copy the segment, and paste into a new wave file
    then save...
there are other options in sound forge that I could go deeper into...I suggest first finding what is right for you...

Never tried it but can't you do that with the Windows Sound Recorder after you rip the song from the CD and make it a wave file. Just open it with Sound Recorder and heres the part I am unsure of, I don't know if Sound Recorder will handle a sound file as large as a wav song typically 20, 30, or 40 MB.
