    Hi there Mike

Basically, if you wanted to create a discussion board like this, you would have Moderators for the forums you have available on your board - just like here where each forum (Win 98, 95, Internet, Gen. Software, etc....) has a Mod to 'look after' the forum. The Mods have the 'power' (tools) to edit other members posts, lock/unlock threads, delete posts/threads (if they see fit) and make a general contribution in the Moderator Forum (the forum available to Mods and Admins only so they can discuss current issues!).

Now, you would not only be the owner of the site/board but you would also be known as the Administrator. You are the next step up (and the highest) from Mods and can control members' accounts, you can ban a member, suspend their account, view their email addresses (even if they're hidden) and can control the site overall in terms of display (ie. what the members can and can't see). You also have the tools to change your site/baord attributes, add/remove certain items from the board (eg. turning the HTML code On or Off to suit you or your site's security. The list goes on, but in a nutshell, you have total control over the site (well, it is yours!

Furthermore, you can assign trusted people/friends to be Admins too! Lets say, for example, you're very busy and can't be on the site all the time, you may want another Admin to help you out when you're not around.

It's a good idea to choose both Mods and Admins from different parts of the world as you will have members from around the globe. Having Mods that come from all the continets (if not most) is ideal as you'd be covered 'globally' and there will always be someone around to Mod the place!

I hope this helps mate and please poat back if you have any comments or queries!
