Trying to make bootable Ghost CD's
I have Norton System Works Professional Edition 2002. How do I find out which ver. Of Ghost do I have?
I have made a Ghost image on a dedicated partition, and I want to make a bootable CD set of backups.
I have given up trying to read and understand the manual, too much skipping back an forth. I then downloaded Symantec’s Knowledge base “How to create a bootable CD that can restore a Ghost Image” and The Coaster Factory tutorial “How to create a bootable ghost rescue CD”
I am still having the same problem, reading so much it runs together and some statements conflict.
Does anyone have a step by step tutorial, that on how to do this, one way, all the way through, without putting in except if you have this or do this for something else?
I have the same problem with IRS tax forms, so it may just be my ability not to read and sort out the correct information. These tutorials are so marked up with highlight markers that there is not very much black print left.
I try to read the tutorials and type my own instructions, without all the additional information.
Any one got one they would share?
Thanks.

The Radified Ghost is a pretty good guide. He makes his like I do using a boot floppy. He says that when you direct Ghost 2001 to CD it asks if you want to make it bootable, and says it works fine according to others. I have seen the prompt and decline, so I don’t know what comes next.
Have you followed any instructions up to the point of sending an image to CD? I would imagine that if 2001 asks if you want it bootable 2002 does as well. Here is the Ratified tutorial: http://ghost.radified.com/ghost_1.htm

Yea Slipe, I read radified's tutorial and made my own instructions sheet, and made and image to a d\ partition. But he does not do the burning an image to CD. He recommended the two tutorials I have been trying to decipher. Without much luck. I may just burn this image, I'll have to read up on spanning, to a backup CD. and I think I can pull it off with the A:\ drive boot disk.
It really sounds simple to put it all on CD's.
But the more I read the more I get confused, and have questions.
Thanks for a reply.

I keep a 4 Gig C drive but keep the contents small enough to write to 1 compressed disc. It just has the OS and all of my programs.
When you write to CD I think it will span and offer to make it bootable. Just write the thing. I admire your research, but if you have an image and the basic information you will probably sort it out easiest by burning.
Staples has a 50 pack of color PNY 700 Mb CDRs for $495 after a $15 rebate. I’m not sure I would trust an important backup to PNY colored media, but at 10c each you can afford to learn on them.

Thanks Slipe, I still have 125 of the 200 free, after waiting 6 months for a rebate, I got Office Max at the first of the year.
I know I will work it out, I was just looking for good information I know the members have. I just followed some links to three more instruction sheet on Symantec.
Thanks again.
