    Nero 5.5.3 Test and Burn

I loaded the Nero ver. 5.5.3.0 that came with my Lite-on 24102B, Sony Extreme would not reconize the Lite-on.
I added some pictures to an existing disk and burned some on a new blank, using Nero, which I am not very proficient at using, that's why I like Sony Extreme, simple without a lot of strange termology.
They burned on with out any problem, but the buttons for Test, Test and Burn were grayed out. I thought I might save a few disks to be able to Test and Burn, just incase I forgot to run scandisk or close programs running in the back ground. I am getting very forgetful.
All this to ask, how do I un-grayout the Test and Test and Burn button, in the wizzard?

    Thank!

The Lite-On (a fine burner, btw) employs BURN-Proof, and that feature disables the Test capability in Nero. Since you've mentioned the "Test/Test and Burn" settings, that means you're using the Wizard. To disable BURN-Proof, you'll have to close the Wizard. The checkbox to turn off that feature is on the Burn tab of the regular burning window. When you turn off BURN-Proof, the Simulate (Nero's term for Test) box will activate, and you can either check it off with or without the burn option.

BURN-Proof deactivates the Test option because it's supposed to stop the burn from failing anyway.

NoBob, Thanks for the info., I thought something was wrong of missing.
I need to use the wizzard, I am not familure with Nero and there terminology. I don't do very much burning. Backup a few files or pictures of the grandkids or a music disk for my wife's car.

    Thanks again.

In that case you'll have to choose between the wizard and the Test function. You can have one or the other but not both.

A BURN-Proof enabled recorder is unlikely to need Test anyway. Discs aren't that expensive. Burn one and see what happens.
