VPN software locks up ISP
I am a network engineer for Toshiba America Info Systems and am trying to set up VPN utilizing Symantec's RaptorMobile 6.5.3 firewall product and have not been successful. When I install RaptorMobile on my workstation (Win ME) I am not able to access my ISP. Once I remove RaptorMobile I am able to access my ISP like normal. Do you know why RaptorMobile does not work with Comcast@Home and do you have a fix?

[I used to be a tier 2 tech for @home and I think it might be that @home doesn't seem compatible with vpn. Their official policy when I was there was that vpn is not permitted, end of discussion. I have heard @work will support it, but that's AT&T. I recently tried to get vpn work with an @home connection on windows98 and was consulting with some network engineers who said one of their cohorts was getting a vpn connection with @home using windows2k, so maybe will work. They said he had to configure everything manually. As far as I can see windows me isn't that different in the network area than win98, while windows2k is more like nt, so maybe the os can make a difference. You might try not going through the proxy server.]Originally posted by daniel alvarez:

I don't have any experience with RaptorMobile, but I do have Zone Alarm Pro along with an @Home account. Accessing my office server (running NT 4.0) via VPN required that I set up ZA Pro to allow connection to the range of IP addresses that were set aside for VPN on the office server. RM may have a similar configuration requirement.
