file conversion capabilities corel office 200X

    Hi folks

I do not have corel wordperfect office version higher than 2000, so I cannot try this...

I was asked about a solution to a time-consuming problem.

these folks still do most of their officialese work in word 5 for MsDOS and Harvard Graphics for MsDOS

their new machine came with Ms-Word 2000, and it's no surprise, but it cannot convert these.
(conversion for word 5 for DOS was already absent in Ms-word97)

    that's the main problem
since I had an OEM copy of it, I looked at capabilities of wordperfect office 2000
    did a CUSTOMISED setup
and yes, it does support BOTH file types, and can even save in word-5-dos format.
(I could not test HVgraphics as I don't have it)
however, the save as type did not go higher than word97

First thing I would like to know is this...
can perfectoffice 2001 or later still do this? (word 5 for DOS, and Harvard Graphics for DOS)

and..., can it save in word-2000 format?

(maybe I am paranoid, but I think word2000 could have problems with converions from word97, and I think they would be better off when they have the capability to do single step conversion anyway...)

Can anyone using perfect office please look into this?
remember, it required the extra filters
but they was there in corel-2000

    please?

    ---------------
their second proble is Date conversion

their older machines had a bios problem, and word 5 for DOS has a Y2K issue all of itself (even with a bood y2K bios).
the biosfix tool from NORTON came to mind, but I don't think that will solve the entire problem.

these folks have (literally) thousands of files to convert to the new format
(but only a few hundred from after y2K)

    what do we do here?
    ---------------------

Can corel be customised to open from
a defined folder, and can default SAVE AS FILE TYPE be changed?

I rather ask the people working with it to get more answers in tha same time I put in trying to find out on an older version.

please, anyone with corel office2001 or later, Please look?
