    PCSolutions,

That's a great link...LOL. I actually considered waiting until Friday, but since I don't know the answer, it wasn't really a trivia question. People would yell at me after searching around only to find out I don't have a clue either. So I tossed it out as a general software question.

Here's a couple copy/pastes from another discussion forum site. Nothing concrete or official but perhaps something:

    First

As to your other questions, yes, Microsoft employees occasionally use the term, but I don't remember any official documenation referring to it as anything other than a "Stop Error" or a "Blue Screen." Some of their publications, like MSDN stuff, will use "BSOD" from time to time.

    Second

Here's some info supporting my argument, from the jargon file:

    Blue Screen of Death n.

[common] This term is closely related to the older Black Screen of Death but much more common (many non-hackers have picked it up). Due to the
extreme fragility and bugginess of Microsoft Windows (3.1/95/NT versions), misbehaving applications can crash the OS. The Blue Screen of Death,
sometimes decorated with hex error codes, is what you get when this happens. (Commonly abbreviated BSOD.) This event is sufficiently common to
have inspired the following haiku from Alan Tuplin:

    Your system which soared
    So freely on gliding wings
    now hangs, frozen and blue

The following entry from the Salon Haiku Contest, seems to have predated popular use of the term (and may indeed have inspired it):

    Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death
    No one hears your screams.

Blue Screen Of Death was originally derived from the old term Black Screen Of Death. No one is given credit for making up the name but the Black Screen Of Death was inspired by the Floating Head of Death in a famous "Far Side" cartoon

OK...unless somebody actually comes up with a name of a person, we will assume from the information above, that it was a "collective" internet term derived from the Floating Head of Death. Of course I really wnated a name, but it would appear that a single individual isn't likely here.

    Theoran,

It's too early in the week. I'm not in "Full Trivia Mode" yet...LOL

    PCSolutions,

Good Idea...I pulled the question out of my previous post and will hold it til Friday. Now since a few of us have already seen the question, NO CHEATING . You have to wait until the question is re-posted on Friday before you can start the hunt. Kinda like when you would go to Grandma's house on Easter for the Big Easter Egg Hunt. You aren't allowed to look for them until the signal is given...LOL And NO, I don't know the answer yet either. I'll wait.
