    Sirc32.... um, help?

    Hello....

My wife received the Sirc32 virus email today... and she opened it.

After she opened it she came to me asking what it was.... I promptly updated her Norton AntiVirus 4.0 virus definition files... and ran it. The utility cleaned out four infected files, and all seemed well.

However, now her computer will not run any applications.

When you click a program, it says it cannot find the program Sirc32.exe, which it says is required to run the file type 'application'.

I am at a total loss for an answer... maybe someone here could show me the light?

    thank you in advance...

Hi The_Solf welcome to the boards!:
Excuse my ignorance....but do you have the right name of this virus? Could it be this one? http://discussions.virtualdr.com/For...ML/002821.html

Absolutely, one hundred and fifty percent the answer.

Thank you Daizy... you pulled our proverbial ass out of the virtual fire.

The computer is working fine now, all the bad mojo has been exorcized.

    Thank you much,

    Hello againThe_Solf:
I do love it when a plan comes together! Thanks heaps for taking the time to post back. Glad you got it all worked out.

I could have used that beer yesterday after getting hit with that virus 3 seperate times! But I'll gladly accept it today in celebration that my computer gets to live another day!

I have gotten that email about 40-50 times between yesterday and today.

Zone alarm had picked it up right away and I knew it was virii.

I scanned it and it was the sircam virus. But like I said I got about 40 more between yesterday and today.
