runshell.exe missing!!!

Please help. When i try to boot my comp, i get an error...runshell.exe is missing, you must reinstall Windows 95. Is there anyway to avoid this? Thankd

Hi...try this for a start -

Start in DOS mode if you can, otherwise use a boot disk.

Type cd windows at the C:\> prompt and <Enter>.

Type edit system.ini and <Enter>

Scroll down to the [boot] section and check what shows after shell=.

If runshell.exe is there, replace it with explorer.exe, Save and Exit.

Restart the computer and see if it lets you in. If so, there may be some changes to be made in the registry.

Have you installed any programs recently, like ZAK (Zero Administration Kit) for Windows 95? Runshell.exe is part of this package.
