WinMX users...Got a question on How to share.

I want to make sure i'm sharing files. When i connect to winMX it says 'sharing X number files...however when i add my username to my hotlist it says "info provided by Napster and states "0" files shared." Will show 1 file downloading but 0 files shared. I created a folder for download path with MX and added my Napster folder. Is there something I'm missing on sharing files or does doing a Whois on your own username always state "no files shared"???Thanks for any input.
Also anyone ever get any searches from "opennap Music city?" Even thou it connects and states several thousand users no search will provide any hits.???

Hi there Carson, more mp3 problems, eh? I get a new one everyday as well now, why can't downloading mp3's be as easy as pie?

On your problem though I think I can help. The reason why your file-share says "0 Files Shared" is beacuse the mp3's you have are probably the ones that Napster have filtered. So, even though you have them on 'Sharing' and you can see them in your folder, Napster's filters means that other Napster/WinMX (or any other application using Napster servers) users cannot see them and are not able to be downloaded. I hope I'm making this clear!

An example I could give you is that I have 112 mp3's in a particualr folder which I share in Napster and WinMX. However, when I look at my username/how many files I'm sharing it says 89. I guess the other mp3's have been deemed 'copyright material' and have been filtered by Napster.

On Music City: To tell you the truth I don't think I have ever been able to connect to Music City. WinMX connects to most of the other servers (the servers which have about a handful of users!!!), but not any of the popular ones. So, I can't really say much on that.

Thanks goldust...Think you nailed the problem. The songs are probably filtered thru napster. Thats why i couldnt D/L directly from napster and adopted winmx. Even thou there are a couple of oldies. I just didnt want it to look like I wasn't willing to share

I connect to "music City with over14K users, but no matter what name i search for yields "0" files found. Wierd...

Anyway thanks again for the input. I really appreciate your time & help.
