    Q about trace route scans

This IP? has been showing up in Black Ice as doing trace route scans for 5 days now, several hundred of them.

I traced the IP and it came back as not an IP:

    (Traced 10.0.0.2 "shell.boudalis.net")

..."This is not a valid INTERNET IP address. This is part of the reserved A class IP address block. (10.x.x.x)..."

It was also reported to have done 9 "SNMP Discovery broadcasts"...

    What does this all mean?

Are you on a LAN at all? If so, it's probably a machine on your LAN doing the traceroutes.

If not, then check your IP address with winipcfg to see if it's in the 10.*.*.* range. If it is, then it's probably a machine at your ISP doing it.

If it's neither of those, I don't know how you can trace the source.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.
