Go to http://www.napster.com
It is a program, when connected to the internet, that will connect you to a server with a community of other napster users. While connected, you can search and download just about any MP3 you can think of.

Tx, Tman1,
I installed it and tried. It does even better than that: it played the ordered tune for me (I don't know how it got it!)
The impressions:
1. The quality of the sound is better on my stereo. It's even better on sound email postcards (same tune).
2. The sound was very soft. I had to put the volume on max and it was not enough (usually I can't stand it when the volume is >50%).
3. It found ~50 different versions of Beethoven 5th symphony, but none of Mozart's 41th!

Well, I did say just about anything. Besides I don't think that type of music is all that popular with the majority of MP3 users! The sound quality may have to do with your sound card, speakers, or even the napster player itself. MP3s CD audio quality, anyone that tells you otherwise is anal retentive; the parts of the song that get cut out during the conversion from *.wav to *.mp3 are inaudible to the human ear. Convert em to *.wav and then burn em onto a CD and you cant tell the difference. If you don't like the audio quality of the napster player, go to http://www.sonique.com and download their MP3 player for free. Wait til you get a cd burner and make some cds! My Techincs component stereo system Loves em!

Napster has approximately 52 servers, with around a dozen of them n/a at any given time. When you connect to Napster, a central server directs you to one of these, in an attempt to keep the loading on each balanced. You may see 864,000 tunes available when you connect, but bear in mind that there are around 40 other servers, each with this number on them. To search others, click File, Disconnect, then File, Connect. Each time you do this chances are you'll get a different server. Eventually they hope to connect all of these servers together. Imagine, a database with over 50 millions songs at hand! Of course, there will be hundreds of duplicates for most of them.

Tx all. I'd spend time and energy on a movie database/downloader, but not on a music one. I dont't like the music that much. And I can buy anything I want anyway. I have Creative Labs soundcard and 6 speaker surrond sound system by Cambridge Soundworks. If it doesn't play what I want, it's OK. Maybe, I'll experiment with it when I'm bored and have some extra time to kill.

Jim Holly,
Thanks for the tip about disconnecting and reconnecting under the File Menu. That hadn't occurred to me and sometimes I just gave up if I couldn't find a particular artist or song.

I downloaded imesh, but couldn't get registered, so I dumped it. CuteMX works well, though. I'm trying to figure out what to ask for when I want JPEGs, GIFs, etc., but it's fun.

I haven't been able to log on to their server for the past few days. Anyone else had a problem?

Hi All
At least one of the ISPs here has put a block on napster, claiming that the material available is breaching copyright. Is that correct, is it pirated stuff?

The answer is 42!

Whether it's pirated or not is still a matter of opinion. After the current trial is over, we'll have the Court's decision to guide us.
Personally, I don't see any difference between downloading a copy of someone else's CD or borrowing one from my neighbor to make a copy. Now if I make 10,000 copies and sell them at the local swapmeet, then I am clearly a crook.
I am still unable to connect to Napster. I tried reconnecting from the File Menu, but that doesn't work, either. I also tried using 4 different ISPs, but nothing worked.
