Redhat 7.1 monitor question
I want to setup Redhat on a second machine and the only extra monitor I have is an AST Vision5L this monitor is not in the list of choices when doing the Redhat install...What do I need to do to make this monitor work without any problems.....Remember this will be from a fresh install and that I am very much a newbie to linux....so take it easy on the make's and do's LOL cuz I do not have all that lingo down yet
Thanks in advance

just find the horiziontal and vertical refresh rates, this is crucial for any monitor...
this 17 inch monitor is configured as follows:
Horiziontal 30-70
Vertical 50-160
your monitor may be differeent, i would look for any paperwork on it, or find their website and find the specs for your monitor...

Then just put those specs in the box and use the unprobed monitor setting?

It's been a while since I ran redhat, but their tool xconfigurator may allow you to put in custom horizontal and vertical refresh settings. Otherwise, you can just use XF86Config, a text based utilty or edit /etc/X11/XF89Config or /etc/X11/XR86Config-4 and put these settings in. Just look for or search on horizontal and vertical and you will know where to put the info.
