a fresh red hat 7 /w 3 glitches
i have just finished installing red hat 7 on my cousin`s computer, no problem at all... i`m glad to say. the beast is wonderful... it even recognised the sound card, 5 minutes from the install, and i was listening to a bob dylan cd... very different from my beloved 486 ;->.
i have only 3 problems:
* how can i `see`, mount or whatever the windows partition? do i have ro re-install all the way. everything is on a single hd, that i partitiones using fips.
* x windows, gnome, to be exactly, works like hell, it`s wonderful, except for one little and very annoying glitch, it doesn`t show the traditional x cursor, pointer.
* i have to boot linux from a diskette, is there a way to install lilo on the hard disk? do i have to reinstall everything?
sorry for the long posting, but i`m totally new to this windows & linux and `gui enabled` linux world; my 486 has only a partition with linux.
thanks in advance.

log in as root and use linuxconf would probably be your quickest to do both.. mounting windows and installing lilo.
If you know which partition windows is .. then no problem..
hda1, hda2, hda3, .etc... or maybe its thew second drive...
hdb1, hdb2, blah blah..
and then give it a mount point /C_dos (or whatever u want to call it)
there is a lilo section in there as well..
(lilo is used to boot this system, etc.)
There is a little information on my website you can take a look at too if ya like .. things like using loadlin.exe to boot a system (just another alternative)
But gnome is so comfortable.. hehe

thanks a lot, men, very useful tips, your site is wonderful.
any idea why i can`t see a cursor/mouse pointer in x? all i see is a white rectangle, something which is very very annoying.
thanks in advance.
