the purpose of the openwin directory
i was wondering if somebody could please tell me what purpose does the /openwin directory has on a linux system.
on my linux box, slackware 4.0.0, there is a directory named like that, an empty one, and there is no mention to it in the man pages.
thanks in advance.
i wonder if is it designed as a windows-linux compatibility directory?

Openwin, if I'm not mistaken, openwin is another window manager, similar to KDE or Gnome. Although most UNIX's offer CDE, Sun Solaris still offers openwin. If the directory is empty, check with ls -la, if you'll feel more comfortable, remove it. -mk

mike thanks a lot, is funny, why didn`t i thought of that; with that name it can perfectly be a window manager
the strange thing is that i haven`t thought, not even for a minute, that it was something that didn`t have any relation to microsoft.
i guess that`s the part of monopoly that i can`t be controled; like owning the words or something like that.
anyways, thanks a lot.
