reinstalling in Dos mode

Somehow i screwed up my laptop and i have to reinstall windows 95 back on it. when i boot up I get to the C: my laptop does not have a cd rom but i have everything on my harddrive. How can i get to the C drive to start the install again to replace what ever is gone, or whatever is missing that it wont let me boot to windows or safe mode or anything. Thank you Ohana5

just some added info when i boot it goes to the windows 95 display then goes back to the C:\>

If you have the .CABs files from the Windows CD on the hard drive, you can use those to re-install Windows. Note that if they are in the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs\ folder you will need to copy them to another folder outside the Windows folder to install. You can do that with the following commands:

CD \
MKDIR WIN95
COPY C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS\*.* C:\WIN95
CD \WIN95
SETUP

ok thats wonderful and its working exempt its asking me for the OEM number, Have any ideas on how to pull that number off the hard drive. As i dont have the cd long gone. But should be on hard drive somewhere i hope, LOL Thank you Ohana5

You can use the DOS version of regedit to export the registry to a text file, then use EDIT to view it. Search for 'OEM' with EDIT. Use 'regedit /?' from a DOS prompt to see the command syntax.

thank you very much it worked and all installed having trouble with few other things in there but least i have windows back. LOL
