    anti virus for 3.1x

Can someone please spare the time to advise me of a Free (good ) antivirus that I can download for my 486 Fountain Computer (American, 7 years old and running perfectly as well as my later Dell ! )

When I take floppies to the Dell the AVG there warns me of the 'Stoned spirit' virus and promptly cleans it off the disk.

If there is a downloadable program can I download on the P2 Dell and then transfer it to the oldie?

If your newer computer has up-to-date anti-virus, perhaps you can use the floppy "Emergency Virus Disk" (or whatever it is called) to scan and clean your older PC.
I used a McAfee Emergency Virus Disk to clean a "Stoned Monkey Virus" from an old PC I was given.
If your older PC is actually connected to the internet you probably do need more.
    F-Prot has a free DOS version: http://www.f-prot.com/f-prot/download/
I have not tried the DOS version yet. I did run F-Prot with a trial WinXP version.
    Good Luck

    Complete multi-platform protection for stand-alone PC's

Panda Antivirus Platinum blocks all possible virus entry points eliminating viruses before they can cause the slightest damage and regardless of the way in which they try to enter your computer: floppy disk, CD-ROM, e-mail or file downloads from the Internet. Even if the viruses are hidden in files attached to e-mail messages, they are detected and destroyed.

Panda Antivirus Platinum protects all the most common workstations: Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 95/98, Windows 3.1x, Windows NT W/S, MS-DOS and DOS, which means that if you decide to change your operating system you won't have to change your antivirus.
