Windows 3.1 Wont Boot Up

I have a very old toshiba laptop and when i plug in the adapter and plug it into the computer directly from a power outlet it dies. This is what happens, i push the power button the lights blink like normal but then it just turns off without me doing anything? its running windows 3.1 what do i do?

Welcome to Virtual Dr.
This appears to be more of a hardware issue than a software issue. But I would check in your CMOS/BIOS to see if there are any power management settings that could be changed, and if possible, get the power adapter tested.

Others will have more ideas.

For windows 3.1 to work good with the machines below, be sure it is
installed for the correct type of computer. Check in the windows setup 3.1
program when it is run; You may need to change it or reinstall for the
following types of computers:
AST Premium 386/25 and 33, AT&T PC, Everex Step 386/25, All HP machines,
IBM PS/2 Model P 70, IBM PS/2 Model L40SX, all 386 and 486 NCR computers,
NEC Powermate SX Plus, Toshiba 1200, Toshiba 1600, Toshiba 5200, Zenith:
all 386, MSDOS system with Advanced Power Management, Intel 386SL based
system laptop. Others: may require a disk from the hardware manufacturer.
Try these instructions if you have one of these and are having problems:
Start the computer from the hard disk, use the F8 key when booting to avoid
going into windows with the "win" command, change into Windows directory with
cd\windows <enter> then setup <enter>, follow the instructions.

Hate to disagree Robert M but the system wot post. Ergo it is not a Windows issue in any flavor.
This is a hardare issue
