Depends on if you are running windows 3.1 or 95
For 3.1 its file exit windows
for 95 its start - shutdown - restart in msdos mode. In 95 theres other ways to get there as well
In the beginning there was the command line

Or.... create a dos boot disk, and stick it in the drive when you want to boot to dos mode.
or.... hold the left shift key after BIOS has checked keyboard and mouse, it'll go straight to DOS, skipping startup files.

Hi Bluetrain,
With Windows 9.x turn on your computer, after the memory count press the F8 key and you will be give several choices of how you want to start, one of them is 'command prompt'
If you get the Windows start up screen, you were too late with the F8 key and you have to go back out and do it again.
Good Luck,
Dave
