Try removing your hard disk from your old computer and connect it to your new computer as slave, after that you don't need special software the only thing that you need it's the command "copy" also "xcopy", the way that you mention is good, but you can find some problems due to OS Versions....

    Good Luck!

Why open a can of worms by opening the computers and fooling around with hard drives? Use the null modem cable only if it came with laplink; see if you can locate a parallel cable that may have come with laplink. Also I thought the Laplink program had to be run on both machines, though I could be wrong. For other ideas wait here or see the Windows 98 Resource Kit available at fine bookstores.

many thanks for the reply. i think removing and swtiching drives might be the hardway, to be sure, as you say but it's a possibility. my laplionk cables ARE from the old dos program, and i guess i could copy ll3.exe to new 98 system, but i'll check out the book you suggested when next in borders before trying any method exclusively.
i do appreciate your time. bob
