DOS
My son was playing on our old Vectra which I have upgraded to Win95. It has DOS 6.22. When he was playing in a DOS program, the plug came out of the wall. Now whenever I turn the computer on, it automatically goes into the program he was playing in!! I can't do anything to it!! When I go into the step-by-step loading, it shows this line:
c:>call c:\museum.bat
(Museum was the program my son was in).

Answer no when asked to load C:>CALL...
To delete the line c:>CALL.... in your autoexec.bat file.
Type: EDIT c:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
Delete the line
Save and exit
Reboot
If you don't have the path set, go to the "C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\" directory and run "EDIT C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT" from there.
Type: CD\WINDOWS\COMMAND to move to the right directory...

If you edit the startup files, you also need to suppress dos=single from CONFIG.SYS.
Have you tried pressing Esc at the beginning, when it displays something "Press ESC to quit DOS mode and return to Windows?"
Here are 2 articles that help with detailed troubleshooting info:
Q130448 "Cannot Quit MS-DOS Mode"
Q151717 "Cannot Exit MS-DOS Mode"
To get these either search Microsoft's site by article ID (the Qnumber) or sent mail to [email protected] with a subject line containing the article ID.
