Thanks Ewen, but this is not a down load site, I need to know the location where I can actually just down load the driver to make my printer work with XP.
This site can only sent me a CD rom disk with a shipping time of 7 to 10 days with the entire program which I do not need and at a cost I also do not need.

Doesn't the Home edition come with a slimmed down version of Direct CD like the Pro version does? Do you have your cd/r as an option in the Send To menu? If you do, you really don't need Direct cd 3.
What model is your scanner? Does it use USB or a parrallel port? I don't think XP supports any that use a parrallel port.

I'm a bit confused as to why you can't use your printer, I have a 840C and I use the drivers that are automatically setup during XP install. They are written as suitable for 840C/841C/842C/843c.

DAm,
how did you install the scanner, mine is a Paragon page color scanner @ 3 years old, it has the SCSI card.
Also I have a hard time finding the driver for my 842C, first when I run the XP rom disk it came with a report telling me that the printer would not work with this version of WIndows.
The only thing I can find on the HP site is the CD Rom which they sent to my home with UPS.
There has to be a driver somewhere that I can use, I tried the Dirver.com site and found a driver for W 2000, would this work with XP?
I appreciate any help out there.
Thanks.
RR.

In case you have not tried this page, have a look,it seems that you can follow this page to another one that lists a driver for Win 2000 and a tool to adapt to XP. Not knowing your exact model # I could not be sure it was the correct driver. Also there is a Email form to contact Mustek support. http://www.mustek.com/Class/install_cd12.html

[email protected], I was quoting robertw. He installed a parallel scanner. I didn't think you could.
As far as the printer goes, XP should have drivers for it. Go to your Printers folder and click "Add printer" check local printer and uncheck "automatically find printer", click Next and then select LPT1 for the port, then click Next again, then choose HP from the list on the left and scroll down the list on the right until you see the 840c/841c/842c/843c, (looks like this) choose it and continue.
Also on HP's site they give directions for installing. Might want to look here for that. The 842C isn't listed but XP does have drivers for it so the steps will be the same.

Thanks Dam,
The printer is fine, for the scanner I will have to get something else!
To bad because I kind of liked he setup I had!
If there is someone out there that might have some idea how to get this to work I would appreciate any comment!
