    Left Click Downloads

I have two computers. One has Win98. The other has WinXP Home edition. Win 98 gives me two options on downloading a file - the good old right click save target as or left click and get option of opening or saving to disk. On XP machine I have same right click option. However, when I left click a download link it immediately begins to download to a temporary file without giving me the option of choosing a download location. Anyone else noticing this? How can I restore the normal left click function and choose a download location?

    Thanks a lot.

I figured this out last night. It appears to happen only with zip files. I left clicked a zip file and let it go to see where it went. It went to C:\temp. As soon as it was downloaded WinZip opened by itself. I clicked unzip and the file was automatically unzipped and sent to C:\unzipped and the temp file was purged. Win 98 never did this. This is a cool feature of WinXP.

    Hi Rwinegar,

Left-click or right-click, I get the Save As box that allows me to choose where I want the file to be downloaded to. I actually prefer to be able to choose the destination folder in this manner, rather than have it automatically sent to the temp folder.

Limerick I agree with you and right click offers me this choice. But left click is cool in that it saves time.

This is probably a new feature in WinZip 8.1. Windows XP itself does not do this.

Huh, I don't remember Winzip 6 doing that. It may be a function that can be turned off, though.

This version of winzip was installed on my XP machine from the same floppy that I used to install the program on my win 98 machine. Something makes them operate differently.

Warhawk, you don't have a problem. Thats how streaming audio is supposed to work.
