Should I have Permanant Admin Rights on XP?
I have read that Win2K & XP users should not be permantly logged in as Admin...
The thing is i can only select TV output and install programs etc when i'm an Admin... (doesn't make sense to be an admin just to play a DVD)
also XP only puts most s'cuts in the Admin Start Box but not in mine so i have to copy shortcuts from Admin to mine when i install...
so as far as i can see its not practically possible to use the PC unless i am Admin... i guess thas normal, but how am i supposed to comply with my 1st sentance with this being the case?
Should i just give myself permanent Admin rights with no password and set password on REAL Administrator as i've now done or is that a bad idea?
My guess is that it can't be no worst logged in as Admin than using 98/ME normally... is that about right or are there other things to concider?
All seems much more simpler with Admin Rights on all the Time!
How do u guys assign your admin rights and do u login with admin rights all the time?
no real problem with the way i do it now, but
just curious as to proper way.
TIA & Regards

Just my opinions from past experience...and guessing. Post back to let others know if our ideas worked!
With a good backup program u can UNDO (almost) all your mistakes & bad installs etc in Windows!

its really only a problem to be logged in as admin all the time in unix/linux, as far as XP goes it shouldnt be a problem staying logged in as admin at all,
as long as you have no security problems where the machine is located you are ok assigning it to log in automatically if you want the admin to enter a password when the machine boots up just disable the welcome screen and or fast user switching in user accounts/ change the way users log on/off

thx, thas what i hoped, i shall stay as Admin then (makes life easier), and trust my firewall/virus s'ware as i would with Win98...
I've allready disabled fast user switching as i thought that was unnessary as i am the only user!
Perhaps this site i was reading was meaning do not use admin rights if there are many users of the same PC.
Thx
