    dual booting win2k and 98se after 2k is installed first

    Here is my setup..I have 2 hard drives. C: has win2k on it..I want to install 98 to my second drive for certain games that do not play well with win2k..I do not have partition magic. I have read that you can install 98 to the 2nd drive and then go back and boot with the win2k cd and choose repair an installation to get the boot loader installed to the c drive...is this correct? I do not want to mess up my current win2k drive to much data and programs to do a reinstall if I do not have to. please help

    as far as i know, from my own experience, you have to install win98 on the first primairy partition, abd then the trick with repair win2k will work.

    you should be able just to edit the
    boot.ini file under win2k and solve
    your problem, you should get select os at boot of system
    see example below
    [boot loader]
    timeout=10
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
    C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Recovery Console" /cmdcons
    C:\=MS-DOS
