IIS Please help!
I have NT with service pack 4 installed, I bought a virus scan program that wants IIS installed, their was a icon on the desktop for installing Internet Information Server, I installed it and checked all things like www, ftp, www samples, even odbc. When I go to Internet Server Manager it only says the FTP one is running.
If I go back to setup it has add/remove, I click on add and www is already checked. I have tried uninstalling, but for some reason it won't uninstall IIS either. I have rebooted and retried.
I am not a advanced NT user. I am thinking of installing service pack 6a. Should I do this?

If that ICON was on the desktop that means by default when the server was gen'd IIS was not selected. Since then SPK 4 has been applied?..but when you try to install IIS (2.0) you only get the FTP service. Couple things, under services check if there is a www publishing service (to check install)and then if not go ahead and back off IIS completely. The version which is trying to install is 2.0 which is way behind the newest being 4 on the NT 4.0 Platform so i suggest going ahead and obtaining NT 4 Option Pack. This usually used to upgrade 3.0 -> 4.0 but you can use it as the install. After all is complete then I would apply 6a to get you all up to date.
