I can't log in onto my Network...

I am running a small Lan. Which consist of a NT Server and four workstations with Win95.

Last week were working well after I resolved some problems with the Server and the workstations I could made them run again. This morning I turned them on and one them tell me this:
"Windows Networking: The Network could not validate your user name. You cannot use Windows unless your name is validated by the Network. Make sure you typed everything correctly, or contact your Administrator. OK."

As a username in all computers is Student, with no Password and the Domain is Pop_Server. I already cheked the User Manager and I selected Students as Users and everything looks good. There is nothing to change. Unless someone else have another idea.

I am kind of desperate because I could not find anything wrong. Can someone help with the problem?

You don't say what type of network you are using. If your using tcpip, can you ping the server?. Are you using CAT5 and hubs?.

Yes, I am using a hub with a capacity for five ports, and cat 5. Only the server is the one that has been configured with TCP/IP. The workstations have very limited features for Win95, so I can't see if the workstations have TCP/IP configuration. The wokstation that I'm talking about the day before yesterday was working fine. What is the meaning Ping the Server?

First thing to check is that your hub is still up and running, if it has a crossover port or switch, make sure the server isn't in this. Then check the cable between the hub and the server to make sure that is working.

If not -

I am assuming you can browse the Drive, either under the windows directory or system in windows, there is a programme called winipcfg Run this, this will bring up a dialog box on the centre of your screen, select full details and make sure that your system has been assigned an IP address, subnet is correct, DHCP etc etc.

You can 'ping' the server from a dos prompt, type in ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the ip address of the server, this bascially sends a packet to the server and if it is there it replies.

What do you mean type in ping? Do have to type on the Server from a DOS Prompt or from the workstation that is not working?

Do you have specific IPs? How did you do when you set up this network?

As the saying goes, "The only stupid question is the one not asked." So here's my stupid question, did you restart the computer after getting the error message? Every now and then some of the computers on my network don't connect properly. A restart generally corrects the problem.

It is P166 MHz with 32 Ram, 19 Gig, NIC=3Com Etherlink 10/100 PCI for complete PC
And I have a specific IP for each workstation. This specific computer is running in Win95 and it is connected to a NTServer. About Tweakthis question, if I reboot this computer nothing happens, I have turned it off and turned i back on, restarted it.

More ideas, are welcome.
