    Automate Install of NT SVR and Apps

    I need to automate the Installation of NT Svr,Sql Svr and IIS.

    I first tryed using a ghost image. I created one image with the O/S and all the apps and used Norton Ghost to apply to multiple machines. Well, since they were using the same image file I had to change the SID. After changing the SID I rcv an error from IIS stating "The Protected Storage couldn't find the Admin Acct Password. So I took IIS off the original image and applied after IIS after changing the SID and rcvd the same error msg. Anyone now a way to fix this or a better way to automated the install. I hv tryed unatted and had problems with the partition sizes.

    you need to perform an unattended install w/ an answer file and Uniqueness database file...

    Answer file - Used when performing unattended installs. Provides information that would normally be answered by the user during setup. Default name is UNATTEND.TXT.


    UDF (Uniqueness Database File) - Used in conjunction with the answer file when performing unattended installs. Provides information for settings that are user or group specific. Default name is $UNIQUE$.UDF.

    The problem that I have with the answer file is that as far as I know it only works in conjunction with the CD. The CD is not finding the RAID drivers on the svr. Even though I use the specify additional drivers option. The weird part is that the boot floppies find the RAID. Does anyone know a way to incorporate the unattend file with the NTSVR Boot Floppies.

    I have not used disk imaging with NT Server but with our workstations we remove the original system from the domain and then take a copy of the image.

    After the image is loaded onto another PC, that PC is joined onto the domain.

    It mat be that the error you are getting is bacuase the cloned server has not properly joined the domain.
