Network and Password
Hello,
From my Win98 Server station I tried to acces s my other NT4 Computer but each time I'm asked to write a password. Never during the installation I was asked to provide a password. I don't know what is the password.
The message is: You must provide a password to establish a connection.
I see:
Ressource: \\Peter\IPC$
PASSWORD: _____________
My question is WHERE I can remove this password thing? Is it from the Win98 server or from NT4 station? Please indicate me what to do. I don't want any password.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Roch D.

Roch,
The clue to the problem is in the line Ressource: \\Peter\IPC$
What this effectively means is that the logon NAME (forget the password for the moment) that you used on the W98 PC is not recognised on the NT PC.
If you use the same logon name and passord on both boxes your problem will be solved.
Greg.

Or from the NT machine, go to user manager and create an account for your win98 machine - your user name & password, then use that to access resources on the NT machine.

NT Workstation is really a crippled version of NT server. Here NT workstation is showing its NT server roots. It wants you to create an account on your NT workstation so you can login. This account & password (you could use guest) can be the same as your Win95 ID or different. It depends on your preference. Be aware NT workstaion will only permit 10 users to log in to it. NT workstation is almost the worse possible choice for a peer-to-peer file sharer. Win95/98 is much prefered.
