Computer Account problems
I'm having difficulties with one of the machines on my network - when users try to log on to the domain from it they get a message saying they're unable to log on as the computer account is missing on the PDC. When I look on server mgr, the computer account is there and when I try to delete it, it tells me that the computer is on another domain and will take 15 mins to delete the machine. Then nothing happens.
I tried using 'net computer \\computername /del' but was told that no computer with that name existed. So I tried doing 'net computer \\computername /add' and that went through ok but did nothing.
I think that my solution lies in the use of NETDOM from the resource kit, but I don't have a copy to hand - does anyone else know of a quick fix for this problem?

The fastest way I have found to get around this is to take the machine out of the domain (just put it in a workgroup of any name) and then put it back in the domain. When you put it back in the domain you can specify to "create a computer account" and you need a user account that has permission to add computers to the domain (usually administrator). That should recreate the computer account and overwrite any broken account that may be there.
Adios...Snork.
