Hard Drive replacement ---- whats the best way
Help
I have an Nt4 server with two ide drives... the slave IDE drive is reporting HDD errors.
What is the best practice for replacing the drive?
What is the fastest
Oh are thier any gotches regarding SID of replaced drive etc.
any help would be appreciated

Make a backup of the data on the drive, down the server, replace the drive, and restore the backup.
It also matters exactly what it is you have on the drive.

You could try adding the new disk as a third hard disk then using the program Ghost to copy the information. The Ghost program has the advantage of speed and being able to clone a complete disk. It also works when the disks are not the same size.
