    Video driver

Help! I have a cloned PC that came with no software - The video card is in an expansion slot, not on the motherboard and I have no idea how to tell what brand it is. The system is running Win NT 4.0, Service Pack 3 and the video works but I am using the wrong driver. Now I only get 16 colors, no 256 or higher. My question is: "is there a site with information on how to determine what video card I have and/or drivers that I need" and "a step by step guide on installing the driver and trouble shooting the video
    system"?

i can not answer all your questions, however, when NT starts, for a split second before the POST (pre operation self test) starts, *right after you power on the pc) it should flash the video card you have on the top of the screen. if you hit the Pause key at just the right time, it will pause the screen ad you can see what you have. hope this helped a little,---Beth

Most video cards will have a chip which will indicate something about the brand or model name. Look at the biggest chip on the card and see what it says, if you post back here with some info, I will be able to help you
