Start Page Guard
I installed Start Page Guard about two months
ago. It worked fine. Yesterday, some start
page that I have never seen before came up.
I checked the settings for Start Page Guard.
My preferred start page was still listed
as the selected page. I tried doing a
restart. The wrong start page still came
up.
Is anyone here familiar with Start Page Guard?
Is there anyway I can stop this other start page from coming up?

Hi Dr Seven:
I'll admit, I know nothing about that app, except that you shouldn't need it to keep from having your start page hijacked.
Maybe some help:

Or Here
And here too

I went through that whole regedit hack that Tony talked about and it stopped the wrong page from coming up. I get the preferred start page now. The problem now is that I get a duplicate of the home page I want. In other words, the correct start page comes up and then it launches it again in a minimized window. I don't hardly need the same start page to come up twice. What can I do to stop this?

Some additional information. The start page that I don't want is called:
http://www.istarthere.com
It's is still listed as a possibility under
start pages under internet options. Is there anyway I can get rid of that page as an
option?

Thanks for trying, but I believe that site is a scam of some sort. It didn't remove
istarthere. It put it back on.

Hmmm Dr Seven:
Do you have the check marks taken out of enable install on demand under internet options?
*edit*
Have you done all your critical updates?

Daizy,
Yes, I have the enable on demand unclicked.
I don't know enough about computers to know
which "critcal updates" I should use.
I checked that page you gave me the link for
that is about "more reading". I don't know if I need that Java VM update. It scares me
that it can't be uninstalled once it is installed.
At this moment, the problem appears to be solved. My browser is opening on the start page that I have chosen and there is no duplicate start page opening like I complained about in the last post. If the problem recurs I will post again.
In the meantime, thanks for the help you have given so far.
