AVG - no recent virus database updates?
AVG 6.0 users:
Is there a newer virus database than #197 (released 4/19/2002)?
I just keep getting a message that I'm up-to-date, but it's been awhile!
I'll be on a Housecall while I await replies

You must have a bad download, I just installed AVG 6.0 and it renewed itself just fine. Catman

Hi ^dAvEy^ - yep you have the latest. I would have thought that another update would have been released by now too.

Hi jamesclasater - what is the release date of your update? Look in Help > Virus Info and click on the Program Tab.

thanks y'all...
just thought to check the AVG site too and that confirmed your replies...
AnnMarie, the date is 4/19/2002
Housecall came up clean, but I had an odd looking hit by adaware with the new version and I don't know why IE is showing up as active in ZA constantly when not running by me (also, shows 2 active when I've only got one open)...
This just makes me wonder becuse the adaware hit read something like "possible browser hijack attempt".
Makes me wonder about Trojans - used to run ANTS, but don't anymore - been waiting for the new release.
any thoughts?
TIA...

Hi again ^dAvEy^ - I'm not sure why ZA is showing an extra IE but I have sometimes noticed that programs that I use in a session dont always disappear when closed. I dont know why. If you are concerned about a trojan, you can download an evaluation version of TDS 3 from here. Its shareware but you have a 30 day evaluation period to decide whether or not you like it and it has been very highly rated in some Security Forums.

ah, I couldn't resist - wouldn't have gotten any sleep earlier if I'd tried
WOW, AnnMarie, that's quite a program!
It's seaming a bit over my head though (maybe lots!)
I tried running it and don't really know what happened...
Thanks for the recommendation and I'm pretty sure it's a great product - I'm glad I tried it, but don't think it's for me
I think I'd better try something else
or I'll just go back and load up ANTS 2.0 again untill 3.0 comes out - I find it far more user friendly, given my current pc skills and knowledge.
