How to change boot screen pic...?
How do I change the picture that displays during booting up? Not the background pic you can change in properties... It shows a pic from the store I bought the computer from, I want to change it to something of my choosing.
Thanks,
Cyndy

Microsoft's 98 logo is embedded in io.sys
and runs as the default opening screen when
there is no file named logo.sys in the root
directory (or the host drive).
So look in your C:\> drive and see if there is a file called logo.sys, if there is then rename it to say logo.bak, reboot.

I think you can then choose a picture you want to display at boot, rename it logo.sys and save it in the root directory and that will be the pic that is displayed at boot.

Please bear in mind that the pic you choose must be 320 x 400 pixels and has to be in 256 colors.
You can change the attributes of an image in something like IrfanView which is a free, brillaint graphics viewer/editor.
Alternatively, if you have something like PhotoImpact, PaintShop Pro or PhotoShop they will do the job too!

Remember to backup your original logo.sys, logow.sys (the first shutdown screen) and logos.sys (the second shutdown screen) files in case you want to change them back. If you haven't or need them again you can also download the originals from this site: http://phish.marko.net/logo/98/
Hope this helps and please post back!
