Oh, yeah, now I got a question.
How the heck does one 'kill' a password accessed folder's password?
Story:
Several machines at work, in order to keep a hairbrain from royally messing things up, every drive is doubly passworded, an access only password, which is the same for just about every drive, and a read/write password. Now hairbrain comes along, needs to get at a file on another machine, and uses the access only password. I comes along, and I needs to do a read/write operation, but I can't because the prior password is in effect and the only means I currently know of to clear it is to REBOOT! Now, there's got to be a easier way people.

You could try asking people to map the folders as network drives, and then when they are done to unmap them, or you can map it again as a different drive letter. That may force it to ask for the password again.
I assume that nobody is selecting "Save this password" or "Remember this password" or whatever it says when you try to open a password protected folder on the network...

(Admin) Grumble, that's me.
I've asked my ISP people, my webhost people, they don't know either.
Doesn't seem to matter whether the folder is mapped or not, Win remembers the *&^% password for the folder, regardless of the checkbox.

Basically once you've allowed permissions to set passwords on folders, unless you, the admin have priority to cut in so to speak.
(However the persons main login pw should get you to his/her most recent stuff they did.)
Not my position to tell you to how to run your business, but a general rule of thumb is if pc incompetence is an issue, simply ban the person off the network. If somebody can't remember a pw or write it down etc. thats incompetence or malicious intent.
