    Missing/Corrupt files

When I run System File Checker it says:

    wsock32n.dll is missing
    user.exe is corrupt
    mscat32.dll is corrupt
    mssip32.dll is corrupt
    mssign32.dll is corrupt
    softpub.dll is corrupt
    cryptui.dll is corrupt
    cryptnet.dll is corrupt
    cryptext.dll is corrupt
    msoss.dll is corrupt

    How do I fix this?

    Compaq Presario 5838
    Windows 98SE
    IE 5 5.00.3314.2101

Splaster, The wsock32n.dll Is not a Windows 98SE file and if you're not getting any error messages about that file I would just click the "ignore" in SFC.
As far as all the other files choose "Update verification information" in SFC as they are not actually corrupt. Read the info at these 2 links.

SFC often reports user.exe as being corrupted when it actually isn't. Hope this helps.
You may find an answer about wsock32n.dll at the search link below. It could be a number of things including a virus. Here's the link.
